Excuses considered:
It's a short month.
I've been busy.
I was sucked in by 100 Words.
All of these things are true, but it's more accurate to say that the time slipped away while I was trying to think of something interesting to say. I haven't found the knack of writing consistently yet. I could use some motivation. Perhaps I should ask my friends to suggest words every week and choose one to build a post around.
Today's word might be “fever,” which I had all through the night, and which has now given me an earworm to go with my cold. I apologize if I have infected you as well, but there may be some consolation in the knowledge that the earworm will likely be gone by this evening, unlike my cold.
Highlights of this month in my life:
- Spending a weekend with Squeeze in Santa Rosa and seeing the Amgen tour speed through on their bicycles in the pouring rain.
- Going ice skating with a good friend last Sunday. Neither of us had been in quite a long time, and were pleased to be able to skate around without hugging the wall after the first hour or so. It was a lot of fun, right up until I went splat and found myself prone on the ice. Luckily, nothing was broken, and I even have the full range of motion back in my right shoulder as of today. Hooray! We're hoping to go back again in a few months.
- Rediscovering IKEA! We went there a couple of weeks ago because I was craving a plate of their meatballs. We didn't allow quite enough time to browse the entire store, so I'm planning to go back once I'm no longer contagious. That place has every cool thing that I don't need for my home, some of which end up in my shopping bag no matter how I try to resist.
Oh, and we got our first electricity bill after instigating the power off policy in January. Results showed a definite decrease in usage, so that's a keeper.
